    Job Description

My client, a rapidly growing and well-funded start-up, is looking for senior statistical geneticists (up to Director level) for its site in Oxfordshire, to work with genomic data. This is a permanent position, offering a chance to lead a number of exciting projects, utilising extremely large genomic datasets, and with some of the leaders in the field of genetics. There will also be good opportunities for progression. You will be working as part of a larger research team with a very collaborative atmosphere. Candidates should have: * A 2:1 or 1st class degree in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, life science or a related field. Candidates with a relevant PhD are significantly preferred, although those with significant industry experience will also be considered. * A minimum of 7 years' hands-on experience of working with genomic data, particularly genome-wide genetic variations, WGS or Exome data, as a statistician, although strong statistical candidates interested in moving into genetics applications from other areas of data science will also be considered. * Proven experience of leading teams, either within a matrix environment or direct line management. * Good skills with R or MatLab, with other programming or scripting languages being highly beneficial. * Very strong quantitative skills, demonstrated through project work or publications. Candidates who have written/contributed to R packages are preferred, as are those with industry experience. There are also positions available for junior candidates in statistical genetics; as well as junior high-calibre candidates with a degree/background in maths/statistics who have recently graduated. statistical, genetics, statistician, population, genome, genomic, biomedical, data, analysis, R, NGS, WGS, GWAS, Exome, QC, validation, variations, clinical, omics, medical, project, manager, quantitative
