    Job Overview: A leading and well-established technology and services Company in the global oil and gas industry seeks Technical Author to take responsibility for writing their documentation for a host of software applications and other media formats. Applicants are invited with some experience of writing technical user guides and manuals. The key is the ability to write clear and effective communication combined with the ambition to take ownership of this role for all digital content. Full training in the platform and solutions provided. This is an exciting opportunity working for a key technology player in the upstream oil and gas industry. This rapidly growing Company has been at the forefront of providing digital transformation solutions to the upstream oil and gas industry for many years. With 9 offices globally, a software development team of 200+ and a platform that has been deployed across medium to major oil operators as well as regulators, their solution is well respected as a “game changer” in business performance management. Their digital workspace platform, delivers transformational, enterprise workflows on a major scale. Built on top of cloud application architecture and deployed on a private, public, or hybrid cloud, the platform is an interactive, multi-user environment that supports seamless workflows across business processes. It enables data access to any application and breaks open data and organizational silos. The Company’s success is built upon their status of “trusted advisors” to national oil companies across exploration and production. With a passion for delivering excellence and scalable solutions, they are at the forefront of this new digital age. Due to the continued success of their digital solutions, there is now a need to formalise the style and branding of related documentation. Currently documentation is written by software developers and technical managers and different styles exist and content may be lacking. A more cohesive approach across the Company is required. Working with internal staff, you will be responsible for developing and formalising a house style and to adopt this style in all written documentation for digital solutions, be it online manuals, training tutorial or web site content relating to their platform. You will be supported by the product managers and developers with regard to all technical content. Responsibilities: As a new role, the following tasks could be extended: • Become competent in the Company’s processes, workflows and digital solutions. Intensive training of their platform will be provided. • Work closely with the developers, product managers and customer support desk to understand all current documentation and any proposed copy for new releases. Gain a detailed insight into usage, problems and outcomes. • Produce, review and update technical documentation and instruction for end-users, enabling them to maximise their use of our platform. • Liaise with key clients - understand their preferences for documentation, information on new releases, web-based training, tutorials etc. • Develop the house style for Company documentation. • Revise current documentation and write all new copy accordingly. • Work closely with Marketing – ensure that all marketing material incorporates the correct copy for digital solutions – e.g. web site content, advertising, brochures. • Assist in developing software workflows for demonstrations at conferences, and client site evaluations. • Implement, promote and enhance documentation standards, to ensure quality documentation is delivered on-time and in the preferred format to clients. • Be proactive in securing feedback from clients and in identifying new opportunities for improving overall communications regarding digital solutions. • Keep abreast of industry documentation solutions – strive for excellence in communicating effective content.     Type: Staff / Not SpecifiedSalary: A Base Salary of £30K - £45K is on offer dependent on skills and expertise. Plus Company benefits package.
