    Key Requirements

    Reporting to the Laboratory Manager / General Manager the successful applicant’s duties will consist of the following: • Travel as required. The Company will organise and pay for all associated travel. • Core processing services including but not limited to: core cutting, stabilisation, plugging, slabbing, resination, maintenance and packaging. • Core profiling analysis services including but not limited to: gamma logging, XRF testing, permeametry, rock hardness testing and white light and UV photography. • Plug and sample preparation and analytical measurements. • Making decisions relating to blade, bit, tool and lubricant choice during processing depending on the implications of formation type and quality to associated analytical objectives. • Maintenance and setting up of equipment associated with core / sample handling and processing. • Compliance with Company standard operating procedures and health and safety requirements. • Ability to effectively risk-assess and document requirements associated with Company methods of operation and those specific to area or location. • Provide effective status updates during operations. • Provide quality control reports when necessary. • Assisting with logistics manager to ensure appropriate packing of equipment necessary for the job. • Onsite trouble shooting and effective communication with the office during wellsite operations • Additional core processing, analytical and imaging responsibilities may be allocated if they fall within candidate’s background and abilities. The successful candidate will have: • Earth science degree preferred (Geology) but not essential • Some understand of rock core and well site operations highly advantageous. • Some relevant technical background or experience in the oil and gas industry highly desired. Training provided. • Must be flexible, a trouble shooter and problem solver essential – sometimes equipment can fail and there can be immediate changes to the scope of work. You need to adjust and cope. • Comfortable with electronic recording devices and technical instrumentation essential. Ability to diagnose/calibrate/repair equipment advantageous. • Confident, client facing and a true Ambassador – able to represent the Company in a professional and coherent matter – will liaise with wellsite Geologist, Client representatives and others. • Computer literate essential including but not limited to: Word, Excel. Previous experience in Photoshop, Indesign and similar software packages would be advantageous. • Attention to detail and the ability to work quickly, safely and accurately essential • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively both alone and as part of a team • Basic maths competency in both metric and imperial units desired. • Offshore and any region-specific wellsite certification beneficial but not essential. • Comfortable with wellsite conditions – can be harsh, physical and long hours. • Physically strong as you will have to lift core samples. • Ability to work for long hours at a stretch. • Strong appreciation for health and safety requirements essential - An understanding of HSE considerations associated with the operation of cutting machinery, electronic equipment used in data acquisition and recording, and other applicable technical considerations when operating in a technical and engineering environment highly desired. • Dual nationality and additional language skill of interest as the Company operate in much of Africa, EU and to some extent in the ME and Far East.

    Job Description

    In this role you will provide core services, primarily at the wellsite either offshore or onshore. This could be in North Sea, Europe or Africa. You could be at the wellsite for days or up to 4 weeks dependent on the scope of work. For jobs of a few weeks, there is typically a great opportunity to explore your location. In between wellsite jobs, there may the opportunity to conduct services at the Company’s Laboratory in Surrey and this will be reflected in your Base Salary. The successful candidate on passing the 3 month probation period will then receive a daily bonus whilst at the wellsite.
