    Amec Foster Wheeler is currently looking for a Senior Instrument Engineer to work on the engineering and project management services for an Unconventional Gas Development Program in Saudi Arabia. We are committed to managing the program from our Al-Khobar office where the project management team will be based for the duration of the contract. This represents an excellent development opportunity for inpiduals interested to work in Saudi Arabia, with most assignments expected to be for at least one year's duration with the opportunity of further extension for the right candidates.

    We have been awarded contracts by our client for the provision of engineering and project management services for their Unconventional Gas Development Program. The program covers current field development in 3 different parts of Saudi Arabia with potential further field developments to be added later as the program develops and expands. The Unconventional Gas Development Program is focused on increasing gas production via the development of shale gas and tight gas resources in the Kingdom. The new sources of gas are intended to displace middle and heavy distillate fuels currently used in power generation within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

    Overview / Responsibilities

    - Contribute to all safety design processes including HAZAN, HAZOP, SIL Classification and Safety Lifecycle

    - Organize, monitor, report on assigned work scope

    - Participate in the technical assessment and ratification of bids from prospective contractors and vendors

    - Interact with client, company management and other disciplines to develop the control, safety and monitoring systems and instrumentation philosophies per the above criteria

    - Develop FEED packages suitable for client review, Contractor bidding and selection

    - Review all relevant other discipline documentation and participate in the development of the P&IDs

    - Issue material requisitions to the Procurement Department for enquiry, order placement and for any subsequent revisions

    - Prepare the Master Requisition Index and update and issue it on a regular basis

    - Review Vendors' quotations, prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, in conjunction with Materials Management Department commercial quotation evaluation

    - Approve Order Variation Summaries

    - Hold co-ordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors of major equipment as required carry out technical investigations, produce technical reports, engineering standards and procedures

    - Assist in the development and training of Client's personnel when requested

    - Review the project execution developed by the Cost and Planning Department

    - Perform all assigned work to agreed standards for safety, health environment and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) performance

    - Participate in and advice on all design activities and initiatives, including provision of training, inductions and documentation review

    - Verify that all designs are to required standards and that the objectives of the project are met

    - Verify that the works is completed to the agreed schedule

    Skills / Qualifications

    - Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline

    - Minimum of 10 years' instrumentation experience with 7+ years gas plant experience

    - Held a senior level role for a minimum of 5 years

    - Smart Plant Instrumentation and or MS Access

    - Prior experience in developing FEEDs and Engineering Flow Diagrams (P&IDs)

    - Extensive high pressure gas and condensate processing experience

    - Good knowledge of upstream, preferably with an appreciation of the development of unconventional gas

    - Knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards is an advantage

    Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a Senior Instrument Designer to work out of our Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia office. This position will be on the Marjan onshore gas plant project and is scheduled to run for approximately twelve months.

    Saudi Aramco has selected Amec Foster Wheeler to develop a FEED for a mega program in the Onshore Eastern Province surrounding Tanajib, Safaniyah and Ju'aymah in Saudi Arabia. The increased crude and gas production will demand the initial expansion of an onshore GOSP (gas oil separation plant) at Tanajib, a Greenfield 2.5bnscf (billion standard cubic feet) gas plant, together with NGL (natural gas liquid) expansion at Wasit. This will all be supported by a new cogeneration power plant expected to generate 750 Mw (megawatts) for both onshore and offshore compression, together with power for onshore utilities.

    - Report to the Lead I&C Engineer / Section Manager, the main functions of the role will be the design and layout of instrumentation

    - Design and layout of instrumentation systems
