    To qualify, candidate must possess the following Qualification and Experience:


    Education/Experience: 

    • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent technical degree with additional related experience. 
     • 7 years electrical power plant electrical system commissioning, start-up and operating experience with minimum of  5 years combustion-turbine, simple/combined cycle power plant electrical system commissioning, start-up operation experience 
    • Previous experience with testing trip matrix applications for combined-cycle power plants 
    • Sound permit to work and lock-out tag-out training and experience 
    • Extensive experience testing, tuning, calibrating, and troubleshooting electrical, protection, and control systems

    Minimum Skills/Knowledge: 

    • Good understanding of combined-cycle power systems; protection and control devices, functions and interrelationships 
    • Good understanding of combined-cycle instrumentation and control functions and interrelationships with all plant processes 
    • Previous working experience with all turbine generator protection systems, Excitation systems, static start system hardware, software, and tools 
    • Previous experience with testing trip matrix applications for combined-cycle power plants 
    • Previous commissioning experience on medium and low voltage switchgear with standard tools and test equipment 
    • Good understanding of all current digital communication standards utilized in modern combined-cycle power plants 
    • Computer literate with Microsoft and various software applications 
    • Ability to review and understand multi-discipline (mechanical, electrical, control systems, etc.) drawings and documents 
    • Ability to review and understand OEM supplier drawings and information 
    • Good written and spoken English language skills

    - In conjunction with the Construction and Completions teams implement project static commissioning schedule, sequence and handover strategy

    - Execute in a safe and timely manner offshore system static commissioning activities up to RFDC handover

    - Ensure all applicable site/project safety initiatives are fully and properly implemented and complied with and that all personnel are engaged throughout the completions phase

    Job Description

    qedi currently has a number of requirements for experienced commissioning engineers to work on a fixed term contract or agency basis in our clients Reading office, with potential for subsequent overseas assignments in the Middle East. They are looking for engineers to become members of an experienced team. The successful candidates will have responsibility for commissioning input into designs and the development and management of commissioning deliverables.

    We are currently looking for experienced engineers with the drive and commitment to make a genuine difference to our clients performance on projects across the full life cycle, from FEED to EPC, to ensure that they continue to differentiate themselves from their competitors by delivering quality projects to their client's requirements. Applicants with strong leadership / technical skills and a background and understanding of Refining unit operations and commissioning should apply.

    - Execute commissioning activities within budget and schedule

    - Ensure that standards and data used conform with end Client's requirements and / or those issued by Amec Foster Wheeler

    - Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed

    - Provide input to Hazops, SIL and other safety reviews as directed

    - Ensure that requirements of Licensor's Secrecy Agreements are known and complied with

    - Participate in technical meetings and handle discussions with client engineers

    - Provide commissioning expertise in the development of project commissioning start-up sequences and schedules

    - Review of and as required preparation of detail plans, project procedures, preparation of pre-commissioning, commissioning and start up plans and procedures

    - Support for the development of Operations Readiness plans

    - Participation in start-up sequence workshops with both client and EPC contractors

    - Systemisation including mark up of P&ID's

    - Development of completions work packs and plans

    - Provide input to periodic project reports

    - Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline, together with membership of a relevant professional body or institution is preferred

    - Significant commissioning experience of working on Studies, FEED and EPC Refining projects in both design and site project phases

    - A self-motivated, proactive inpidual with high achievement drive and initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness

    - Ability to impact and influence fellow workers

    - Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving project and corporate objectives

    - Previous experience of working at Amec Foster Wheeler is preferable
