Petrofac, an oilfield services provider, has been awarded an integrated services contract by CNR International (CNRI) for a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel operating off the coast of Ivory Coast, West Africa.
The initial contract, valued in the multi-million pound range and spanning three years, will allow Petrofac's Asset Solutions business to deliver integrated services for the FPSO Espoir Ivoirien. The vessel was recently sold by BW Offshore to CNRI for a total consideration of $20 million in June 2023.
As part of the transition, approximately 110 personnel currently supporting the FPSO will move from BW Offshore to Petrofac, including both onshore and onboard staff. The transfer of personnel and operatorship is expected to be completed by the end of July.
Petrofac highlights that this contract further strengthens its existing partnership with CNRI in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), which has primarily focused on operations and maintenance services. The contract will be managed from Petrofac's technical hub in Aberdeen.
Nick Shorten, Chief Operating Officer for Petrofac's Asset Solutions business, expressed his delight at expanding their presence in Africa through this contract with CNRI. He emphasized Petrofac's extensive global experience in FPSOs and its commitment to local job creation, skill development, and collaboration with local partners. Shorten looks forward to deploying their expertise and working closely with CNRI and the new employees to ensure a safe and seamless transition to operating the asset.
The FPSO is deployed in the Espoir field, operated by CNR International, off the Ivory Coast and has a production capacity of 45,000 barrels per day. Oil produced from the Espoir East and West reservoirs is processed, stored, and offloaded from the FPSO located between the two wellhead towers.
This contract award adds to Petrofac's successful achievements in 2022, including decommissioning work in Mauritania for Tullow Oil, operations and maintenance services for Tullow Oil in Ghana, and the provision of offshore operations services for BP's Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project, including an FPSO, in Mauritania and Senegal.
