Graphic for News Item: Augean Cleaning Contract With Shell Begins Amid Vessel Arrival

Waste management firm Augean PLC said Monday a subsidiary had begun a "major" equipment cleaning contract with FTSE 100-listed oil & gas giant Royal Dutch Shell PLC following the arrival of a vessel in Scotland.

The Curlew Floating Production Storage & Offloading vessel has recently arrived in Dundee which marks the start of the "significant" contract for Augean, through its subsidiary Augean North Sea Services.

Augean did not specify financial details of the contract.

Under the contract, Augean will provide specialised industrial cleaning and waste management services to Shell for the Curlew vessel. This will see Augean ensure environmental compliance before the vessel is dismantled and recycled later in 2019.

Augean North Sea Services Managing Director Simon Gibb said: "Our site in Dundee is now becoming a recognised location for decommissioning North Sea infrastructure. We expect the Curlew project to be the first in a long line of other similar opportunities."

"This is good news for us (underpinning our recently upgraded performance expectations for the year) and very good news for Dundee, as it will help the local economy and support a number of jobs both through direct employment as well as throughout the supply chain," Gibb added. "With our commitment to best in class customer service we are very much looking forward to starting work with Shell on this project."
