Drilling Permit Granted to Lundin Petroleum

Published in Oil Industry News on Monday, 12 March 2018

Graphic for News Item: Drilling Permit Granted to Lundin Petroleum

Well 16/1-28 S will be drilled from the COSLInnovator drilling facility at position 58°48’51.49’’ north, 02°16’14.20’’ east in the central part of the North Sea. COSLInnovator is now drilling the appraisal well 16/4-11 for Lundin in production licence 359.

The drilling program for well 16/1-28 S relates to the drilling of an appraisal well in production licence 338 C, where Lundin is the operator with an ownership interest of 50%. The other licensees are Lime Petroleum AS (30 per cent) and OMV (Norge) AS (20%).

The area in this licence consists of a southern part of block 16/1 and a northeastern part of block 16/4. The well was drilled horizontally, about 2 km through reservoir rocks to the southwest, starting from approximately 1 km northeast of the discovery well 16/1-12 (Rolvsnes) and terminated about 1 km north of appraisal well 16/1-25 S.

Production license 338 C was awarded on Dec. 16, 2014 (APA 2004). This is the third well to be drilled within the license area.

The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activity.
