Job Description

Amec Foster Wheeler is recruiting for a Rigging and Lifting Engineer. The primary role is to provide technical support to the onshore engineering team in all matters relating to lifting and hoisting and the movement of loads and will be the focal point onshore for all LOLER related issues.


Responsible for the compilation and development of all lift plans that require engineering input, typically, complicated and complex lifting operations for the inclusion in to the construction execution work packs and take part in Planning Stage Risk Assessments (PSRA) Advise / assist onshore project discipline and work pack engineers on the technical aspects, suitability and adequacy of lifting equipment for lifting operationsFully control the project lifting management structure and ensure its compliance with corporate procedureAct as the onshore construction manager's representative for all lifting operations which fall under the responsibility of AMEC, ensuring all lift plans are developed in a manner which ensures the lifting operations are carried out within a safe system of work. Demonstrate exemplary HSSE behaviours and be a role modelSupport the offshore project management team, e.g. the Appointed Person and Rigging Supervision in the development of lift plans and task risk assessmentsEnsure HSSE safe working practices and procedures are strictly adhered to. Ensure all lift plans are developed in compliance with LOLER regulations and with client / AmecFW corporate lifting procedures. Ensure the highest quality of workmanship at all timesSupport the development of a suitable and competent work force capable of the safe execution of lifting operations, particularly trainee riggersCategorize the lifting operation and recording the lift plan number in the work packIdentify any potential hazards that may be experienced when the lift is performed offshoreDevelop the lift plan with the involvement of both onshore technical engineering team and the offshore Appointed Person - Moving Loads and the rigging supervision as appropriate

    Job Description

    Amec Foster Wheeler is recruiting a Lead Technical Safety Engineer to join our team in Brunei. The project will run over a five-year period with a possible two-year extension.     Successful applicants will be responsible for the leadership, management, supervision and guidance of the day to day activities for delivery of Technical Safety Engineering scope. This scope will cover engineering deliverables, planning and scheduling of personnel's workload. This is an end to end rejuvenation scope and as such will involve interfacing with other disciplines, planning, construction, procurement, HVEC and client operations.

    You will ensure the competence of Technical Safety team group personnel, establishment of fit for purpose and effective planning practices, and creation of procedures and processes within the overall rejuvenation team. In addition, you will be tasked to ensure that the Technical Safety team is resourced with the necessary skills, knowledge and numbers in delivering the Technical Safety scope.

    - Represent Contractor in Coordination with Company Discipline Heads / Project Team for monitoring of Company Standards and quality

    - Review any design work carried out by third parties (vendors) and to participate in some instances lead HAZOP, HAZID, IPF, reliability studies, and Safety and Facilities Technical Audits

    - Establish the actual (as opposed to design) capacities / capabilities of existing field facilities to identify potential bottlenecks and scope for optimization

    - Identify potential applications for new technology

    - Develop local staff to fulfill engineers and managing role

    - Deal with environmental aspects (ISO14001) of oil and gas design, and safety aspects of design in relation to the project cycle (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, HAZAN, IPF classification methodology and implementation, reliability studies, Fire and Gas mapping and risk analysis techniques)

    - Analyze life cycle cost

    - Prepare Engineering, construction and material estimation, schedule, resource planning and update resource capacity planning half yearly

    Skills / Qualifications

    - Have 15 years' experience of which 12 years must be of practical Engineering design experience (designer / drafting level is not included) appropriate to the discipline in the offshore and onshore oil and gas

    - At least 3 years shall have been spent in the overall coordination and supervision of an Engineering design team

    - Have a recognized degree or equivalent qualification in his / her discipline, in addition, s / he shall be a member of a recognized institution and a registered Professional Engineer / Chartered Engineer (e.g. MIE (Aust), IPENZ)

    - Shall be conversant and have working knowledge with the relevant international codes of practices
