Job Description

Amec Foster Wheeler have a requirement for a Welder to work for the Transmission and Distribution division. Initially the work is for 8 weeks at the Canalside depot

Purpose / Role

  • To deliver a high quality, consistent and competent welding construction service in accordance with project / company requirements, standards and procedures.
  • To support overall delivery of company goals and schedule.
  • To ensure all that all workscope is completed in a safe manner ensuring no detrimental impact to personnel, fabric or environment
Key aims and objectives

  • To perform all required discipline tasks, safely, consistently and in accordance with project requirements, procedures and specifications
Prime responsibilities and duties

  • Read, understand and implement all applicable company / project policies, working practices and procedures, ensuring at all times that the welding workscope is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Complete all workscope in accordance with applicable workpack / jobcard instructions, associated procedures and drawings / sketches
  • Provide support to other trades/disciplines where required, or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team
  • Raising applicable Permit to Work (PTW) in order to complete workscope in a controlled and safe manne
  • Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments (RA) in order to complete workscope in a safe and controlled manner

    Purpose / Role

    - Supervision and coordination of plant and general civil operations.

    - Provide support to the site manager in the deployment of his duties

    - Raise applicable permit to work in order to complete the work scope in a controlled and safe manner.

    - Monitor the operatives performance and ensure that they apply their skills and competencies correctly

    - Manage the works efficiently utilising the optimal amount of labour and plant

    Aker Solutions' Fabrication facility based in Portlethen, Aberdeenshire is responsible for delivering top sides and subsea piping and structural fabrications. We need experienced inpiduals who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the oil and gas market.

    We are currently seeking Pipefitters to support an increasing workload at the facility. These are contract roles for a period of approx. 5 months with possible extension. These are onshore opportunities where working patterns could include day shift, night shift and overtime as required to support the project requirements.
    We are seeking candidates who have strong and extensive onshore Fabrication Shop experience due to the demands of this work.

    Responsibilities and Tasks:

    - To perform all required discipline tasks safely, consistently and in accordance with project requirements, procedures and specifications

    - Ability to fabricate pipework to tight laser survey tolerances of + or – 3

    - Transfer of material traceability number to component parts prior to cutting from base stock

    - Recognition of materials (pipes, fittings, gaskets and bolts etc)

    - Be proficient in the use of gas cutting and plasma equipment

    - Marking, cutting an preparation of pipe for fabrication

    - Fitting up flanges for welding

    - Cutting, fitting reinforced pads and supports on pipework, joint pipework using flanged joints, set and mark out pipework and develop patterns for pipework
