Experience of implementing solutions relating to the migration of data to Azure (Microsoft) highly desired, especially using CVP principals. This is a 12-18 months contract but may be extended to 36 months depending on project rollout. The Operator has large quantities of operational project related data on Horton’s Cloud Lake. This data which is project based, covers a range of disciplines such as planning, financial engineering etc. This major capital project will deliver live data via the Dashboard from numerous tools such as Primavera, PIMS, PCM, providing a deep insight across a large, broad, perse set of data at efficient scale. It will display content from the Data Lake, such as costs, risks, plans, actuals VS predicated etc. The project is at the early stages and the Team currently consists of a Scrum Master and a user who have completed the early stages of investigations – e.g. how the data is established, the relationships and the data flows. This tool will enable the user community to search across millions of upstream documents. They are well advanced in the development and rollout of this tool but are currently facing problems with regard to access permissions/security of assets, documents, their locations etc. Applicants are invited with a strong business focused background and proven experience of search systems and the sensitivities surrounding permissions and securities. The ability to manage a small development team in implementing the required solution is also key. This is an urgent position and it is envisaged it will be a minimum of 6 months. The Operator has in excess of 10 million documents that are accessible via this Global Search Tool. The tool has been rolled out globally, but has encountered some problems relating to permissions/securities issues which need to be urgently addressed. The tool has been built by a third party and customised for the operator. It enables searches across numerous systems e.g. SharePoint, Document Systems, Cloud Lake, etc. technologies. The main aspect of this role is to identify the stakeholders involved globally, understand their concerns surrounding permissions/securities, detail the documents/assets that are key and the corrections that need to be made. These stakeholders are many as they cover the whole of upstream globally – they will include managers at country/regional level, subsurface personnel (geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering), HR, Legal, Finance and external stakeholders (i.e. contracting companies who add value to various documents in the course of their service delivery).     Our client’s UK Application Engineering Team based in Aberdeen and Reading is responsible for delivering multi-disciplined engineering for our subsea controls systems and system architecture to all Delivery Centres. In that capacity our team of mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and system engineers provide FEED and detail engineering into Front End and Projects, support to our manufacturing facilities, the provision of diagnostic and fault analysis and front line global support for the controls product portfolio. 

    We are looking for Senior Software Engineers (x 5) who can strengthen our team and focus on delivering the software for Subsea Production System from concept through to commissioning, to design and configure Master Control Stations (MCS) which act as the hub for all communication and control for the subsea production system. We need engineers with a passion for technology and continuous personal development, who are driven to deliver the best possible control systems to our customers. 

    Other key responsibilities for the role will include;

    - Managing the development, implementation, test, and maintenance of software development work

    - Support and manage tasks of other engineers on your projects.

    - Ensuring allocated work scopes are produced within budget and timescale


    Suitable candidates should have the following qualifications and attributes;

    - Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree level education in Computer Science / Software Engineering (Candidates with an appropriate level of work experience will also be considered.)

    - Prior experience using a defined software development lifecycle

    - Proven ability to implement a control system design.

    - Experienced in the design and development of complex PLC programs using ladder logic and structured text; and of Human Machine Interfaces for industrial process control.

    - Experienced in design and fault finding techniques associated with serial communications system; and IP based communications system.


    It would be desirable if Software engineers also had experience of some of the following;

    - Experience of Subsea Control Systems design, development, testing and commissioning.

    - Experience using; Allen Bradley ControlLogix & CompactLogix systems/ ICONICS Genesis 32 or 64 / Trihedral VTScada

    - Knowledge of OPC DA, AE, HDA, and UA within a control system, and Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP/IP

    - Familiarity using / administration of Linux based Servers.

    - Familiarity with network design, configuration and management of Cisco switches.

    - Experience applying cyber security measures to industrial control systems
