    Job Description

    I am currently recruiting for a key account of Huxley engineering who currently require a Systems Safety Engineer. My client are a leading consultancy in the Automotive Powertrain sector.

    The role is based in the Cambridge area and due to the expansion of business they are actively searching for a systems safety engineer to work on Automotive Control and Electronic projects.

    As a system engineer you will be working as part of a multinational and multi-disciplined team you will be involved in a range of projects for the automotive and transport industries where the work is predominantly for the passenger car and truck markets.

    You will be supporting the specification, design, development and integration of leading edge technologies. You will need to work effectively with other engineering disciplines to develop system level solutions and you should be comfortable in a client facing role.

    To be a fit for this role ; You are a proven engineer with a track record in System Safety Engineering in the automotive, aerospace, defence, process or similar industries and are now seeking your next move into a challenging industry that will broaden your experience and reward you with opportunities to develop leading technologies and practices for global market needs.

    In order to be successful, you will need to seek innovative solutions while working closely with development teams within tight timescales. You are a thorough yet pragmatic engineer who applies a sound understanding of the fundamentals of functional safety engineering to pro-actively ensure that safety is built into the product from the start. You understand relevant safety engineering standards but more importantly understand the spirit behind them rather than a focus on ticking boxes. Able to work & communicate well within multi-disciplinary project teams, you will be a self-starter with the determination to deliver to clear objectives.

    Degree Qualification will be in a technical subject and you will be expected to be familiar with the following:

    - Sound theoretical & practical knowledge of functional safety engineering fundamentals

    - Knowledge of at least one of ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ARP 4754, ARP 4761, DEF-STAN 00-56, EN 5012x

    - Analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, RBD, FHA, HAZOP etc./Constructing safety arguments for complex embedded systems

    A safety engineering specific qualification is a bonus, but not essential. Knowledge in at least one of the following additional areas would be advantageous:

    - Embedded Software/Electronics/Control Systems/Model-Based Development using the Mathworks tool-chain

    Salary Expectations is up to £45,000 plus benefits depending on experience.

    I am currently recruiting for a key client of Huxley engineering, based in Cambridge area. My client have over a 100 years of work behind them and their activities cover a range of market sectors including passenger car, commercial vehicle, rail, defence, motor sport, motorcycle, off-highway, marine, clean energy and power generation.

    They are currently looking for a Senior Engineer specifically in Electric Machine Design, for their hybrid & electronic business unit.

    The role will be based in an existing team in the design, development and integration of electric machines, into hybrid & electronic systems reporting to the Electric Machines & Power Electronics Team Leader.

    Salary expectation : £30000 - £40000 p/a + Holiday/Health care/Pension and more.

    To lead technical delivery activities in electric machines and mechanical design:

    - Provide delivery of electromagnetic designs

    - Provide delivery of mechanical aspects of electric machine design

    - Provide delivery of thermal aspects of electric machine design

    - Support others to improve their electromagnetic design capability

    - Support of the sales teams in the development of market opportunities through client interaction, proposal support and road map development

    -

    As a senior Engineer for this role you should have;

    - Minimum degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline (e.g. electrical and electronic engineering/mechanical engineering/physics/computer science/software engineering/maths/control engineering)

    - A minimum of five (5) years of experience in electrical machine and mechanical design

    - Excellent knowledge of finite element electromagnetic design software such as SPEED, OPERA, JMAG & ANSYS

    - Excellent knowledge of machine topologies

    - Previous use of CATIA / SOLIDWORKS / other CAD system

    - Experience in manufacturing processes for electrical machines

    - Knowledge of the importance of tolerances in machine design and suitable selection of fit for different components Desired Qualifications and Experience:

    -

    - Postgraduate qualification (MSc, PhD or equivalent)

    - Experience with SPEED and OPERA

    - Experience in product ionisation of designs would be beneficial

    - Experience in developing 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D models

    - Development and use of process driven development of electrical machines

    - Thermal design experience

    - Good grounding in MATLAB scripting and C programming especially in the area of multi-programme simulation (e.g. running FEA models from MATLAB and using the output for simulation)

    - Desire to work in a consultancy environment with a breadth of project utilising skills but away for core areas of expertise

    Embedded Linux Engineer

    We are seeking an exceptional engineer with solid hands-on experience with the Linux operating system - from kernel and device drivers to application development.

    In addition to maintaining and developing Linux support across our line of embedded products, the candidate will actively contribute to existing Linux development and our award winning Everyware™ Cloud Internet of Things (IoT) program. By learning and employing the most recent tools and techniques, including advanced configuration management and cloud-based solutions, we aim at more automated quality control and predictable delivery times.

    The position is based in Cambridge, UK. The candidate will join a multi-national team of incredibly talented, hardworking developers based in Europe and the United States and will have the opportunity to support customers worldwide.

    Responsibilities

    - Develop embedded Linux distributions, board support packages and device drivers for our embedded hardware, including x86 and ARM based platforms

    - Organize, automate and manage Linux distributions across our portfolio of products, across chip architectures and platform versions

    - Provide feasibility and cost studies for custom software projects

    - Provide support and guidance to the systems development and systems application teams to create complete product solutions

    Required Skills

    - An in-depth technical understanding of the Linux Operating system

    - Proven experience with Linux, its configuration, kernel, driver, and application development

    - Experience with Linux Networking Configuration (iptables, routing, cellular, wifi)

    - Knowledge of security techniques and best practices

    - Excellent programming skills (C, Shell Scripting)

    - Experience of developing low level software

    - Experience with GCC/GNU Linux tool chain and cross compiling

    - Comfortable with version control and release management e.g. Git

    Desirable Experience

    - Experience with Java programming

    - Android development experience - particularly low level Android porting and not just application development

    - Experience with industry specific protocols such as Bluetooth LE, Modbus, CanBus, Zigbee, I2C, SPI, PWM, or others is highly welcome.

    - Experience with Agile Software Development and SCRUM

    Qualifications

    - Degree, or equivalent in an electronic or software subject and significant C/C++ programming experience with Linux at kernel building and device driver development level

    - Demonstrate the required level of capability in each of the key competence areas above
