    Working closely with CEO and direct reports, successfully develop and deliver Operation Plan for all area's of the business including setting and monitoring targets and KPI's. Driving the operational excellence, lead team of direct reports and manage team performance. Project lead on major projects. Implement corporate procedures and policies whilst working in conjunction with CEO to drive P&L on assets at all locations. Working in tandem with team to develop current as well as new business streams for all locations. Liaising with Engineering Director ensuring assets are maintained to highest standards of safety and reliability. Ensure KPI's which are set are monitored in line with operational reporting to maintain highest level of productivity vs turnover. Guide marketing and sales effort to secure new streams of revenue and drive profitability on assets. Lead negotiations with external partners to conclude major transactions to enhance commercial performance of assets. Familiarise yourself and team and ensuring compliance with all relevant company procedures and policies. Essential Criteria: Previous experience in similar maritime focused role. Demonstrable experience supporting or leading new business and current client development plans. Significant experience of leading successful teams. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to negotiate effectively internally and externally. Change management experience. Strong P&L experience. Excellent knowledge of HSE regulations and requirements relating to the marine environment and related assets. Good time management and ability to work to strict deadlines.

    I am currently recruiting for a key account of Huxley engineering who currently require a Systems Safety Engineer. My client are a leading consultancy in the Automotive Powertrain sector.

    The role is based in the Cambridge area and due to the expansion of business they are actively searching for a systems safety engineer to work on Automotive Control and Electronic projects.

    As a system engineer you will be working as part of a multinational and multi-disciplined team you will be involved in a range of projects for the automotive and transport industries where the work is predominantly for the passenger car and truck markets.

    You will be supporting the specification, design, development and integration of leading edge technologies. You will need to work effectively with other engineering disciplines to develop system level solutions and you should be comfortable in a client facing role.

    To be a fit for this role ; You are a proven engineer with a track record in System Safety Engineering in the automotive, aerospace, defence, process or similar industries and are now seeking your next move into a challenging industry that will broaden your experience and reward you with opportunities to develop leading technologies and practices for global market needs.

    In order to be successful, you will need to seek innovative solutions while working closely with development teams within tight timescales. You are a thorough yet pragmatic engineer who applies a sound understanding of the fundamentals of functional safety engineering to pro-actively ensure that safety is built into the product from the start. You understand relevant safety engineering standards but more importantly understand the spirit behind them rather than a focus on ticking boxes. Able to work & communicate well within multi-disciplinary project teams, you will be a self-starter with the determination to deliver to clear objectives.

    Degree Qualification will be in a technical subject and you will be expected to be familiar with the following:

    - Sound theoretical & practical knowledge of functional safety engineering fundamentals

    - Knowledge of at least one of ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ARP 4754, ARP 4761, DEF-STAN 00-56, EN 5012x

    - Analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, RBD, FHA, HAZOP etc./Constructing safety arguments for complex embedded systems

    A safety engineering specific qualification is a bonus, but not essential. Knowledge in at least one of the following additional areas would be advantageous:

    - Embedded Software/Electronics/Control Systems/Model-Based Development using the Mathworks tool-chain

    Purpose of the Job A Regional Buyer is required to form an integral part of the current group purchasing function of the well-established civil engineering company. With a strong, solid background in civil engineering material purchasing and supply chain involvement, the post holder will assume a position within an existing department of four members, all of which report to the Supply Chain Manager. The role, based at the head office, is key to leading the Company forward in assisting towards securing and maintaining key suppliers of materials and subcontractors covering price, delivery and quality targets. Responsibilities ? Provide input into the collation of competitive pre-contract quotations for materials and subcontracts and liaise with our Estimators and Buying Administrators to agree appropriate costs to include in tenders. ? Work independently to ensure current contract material requirements are purchased to the correct specification, at the most competitive prices and are delivered on time. ? Maintain and develop strategic relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company's needs. ? Identify new suppliers and subcontractors which will benefit the company, discuss terms and negotiate supply agreements where instructed by the Supply Chain Manager including discount structures and volume rebates. ? Assist in the improvement of purchasing methods in an effort to drive down external spend. ? Become fully adept in the use of the operation of company electronic document management system, A-site. ? Be fully competent in the reading of technical drawings and have the ability perform 'takeoff's' where required. Skills/Qualifications ? Construction based qualification preferred but not essential. ? CIPS qualified or working towards preferred but not essential. ? Previous experience of A-site is preferred but not essential. ? Minimum 5 years previous experience in a civil engineering purchasing role. ? High competency level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum). ? Full driving license required. ? Proven track record of controlling and reducing external spend whilst developing a robust supplier base. ? Ability to bring new ideas to purchasing activities. ? Fully conversant with modern purchasing techniques. ? Experience of purchasing bespoke, manufactured items. ? Representing the department at internal meetings if required to do so. ? Assisting the supply chain manager with the management and coordination of purchasing activities with relation to cost, delivery and quality performance. ? Extending experience and knowledge to existing team members via continual communication. Personal Qualities ? Highly resourceful with excellent communication abilities. ?
