Process Engineer- Aberdeen- United Kingdom

My client requires an accomplished and highly motivated process engineer to join the Production Department in their Aberdeen office, assisting in all process engineering related areas for our UK operated assets.

The Position:

The successful candidate will be a member of the Process Engineering group within the Production Department, acting as the asset process engineer for a designated operated facility. Reporting to the Process Technical Authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the development, planning and management of the process engineering issues on the asset covering:

• topsides hydrocarbon and utility system design / operation

• production, regulatory and legislative issues

• supervising and managing contractor and subcontract activity

• budget / cost control

• input to subsea, pipeline and marine operations

The successful candidate will undertake offshore visits as necessary in support of the role and also provide conceptual process design, technical support and technical advice services to other groups supporting the asset.

Specific Accountabilities:

The specific accountabilities of the role include:

• To ensure provision of competent process engineering technical support for the assigned asset, enabling attainment of production/ environmental targets in support of production operations.

• To ensure, by review / audit of procedures and work practices, that the safest and most cost effective maintenance / operations methods are used, while minimising any loss of production revenue through innovative techniques, procedures and equipment.

• To ensure that the operation of offshore production / utility systems is carried out in accordance with company, regulatory and good operations practice, through regular offshore audit and communications with offshore production personnel.

• Be a key part of relevant incident investigation teams, providing expert technical support for the investigation of any incidents.

• Review the performance of the offshore facilities, identifying and assessing areas of potential throughput restrictions etc, to allow production enhancement opportunities.

• Undertake/organize preliminary concept studies/assessments as appropriate, to provide resolution on areas of performance or technical concerns.

• Provide clear understanding of, and direction for, major issues arising from oil and gas production and offshore floating production systems.

• Ensure sub-contract work quality, cost and planning is consistent in satisfying Corporate and Legislative requirements and incorporates the benefits of new technology.

• Develop operational strategies for production, responsible environmental operation and maintenance of asset value.

• Participation, as asset process engineer, in risk assessment activities, such as HAZID’s/HAZOP’s, SIL Assessments etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Qualified to degree level (Hons) in chemical or process engineering.

• Relevant oil and gas industry experience

• Demonstrable knowledge of operations support, including offshore operations, design and commissioning/start-up activities.

• Familiar with operating issues associated with FPSO's and with UKCS regulatory issues.

Contribute and participate in internal peer review and management presentations, and if necessary as the company technical representative to partners and government. Monitor and report budget/capital spending related to your projects. Represent the company in operated and non-operated partner meetings and presentations.
