Job Description
Our client is a major Mining and Oil & Gas production company based in Aberdeen and operating in the North Sea
As Safety Engineer your main responsibilities will include
Development and upkeep of operational Safety Cases in line with legislative requirements, conducting thorough reviews
Technical safety overview of modifications projects etc. (e.g. review of project generated safety studies)
Co-ordination of and participation in technical safety risk assessment activities (eg. HAZID, HAZOP, etc.)
Co-ordination of activities undertaken by external consultants
Provision of technical safety and risk management support and advice to operational and project personnel
Guide and advise operations staff on SCE Performance Standard verification & Assurance Scheme issues
Develop and deliver Major Accident Hazard Awareness programmes for offshore
Liaison with regulatory authorities and other relevant external bodies
Job skills
Essential
Thorough understanding of relevant statutory provisions, particularly in relation to Major Accident Hazard Management
Preferred
Experience of technical authoring desirable
Auditing skills
Education/Qualifications
Essential
An engineering degree plus a formal technical safety / risk management qualification - eg. MSc in Safety & Reliability Engineering
Preferred
Membership of professional body e.g. IOSH or IIRSM
