Key Requirements
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Preferably Chartered Engineer with significant experience gained in an engineering, OEM or upstream oil and gas organisation

Job Description
Accountable for providing strategic direction to all Talisman’s North Sea operations on Diesel Engine Maintenance Strategies and Industry Best practice. The principle purpose of this position is to act as lead maintenance authority on all Diesel Engine Package Rotating equipment across all ofcompanies operated assets within the UK-CS.
Defining and periodically revising companyTalisman Diesel Engine Maintenance Philosophy
Defining and periodically revising Asset specific Diesel Engine Maintenance Strategies
Management of critical Diesel Engine equipment spares. Determine appropriate stock levels and inventory locations
Review and approve Maintenance Change Requests (P1, P2 & P3)
Definition and embedment of effective mechanical and rotating equipment engineering processes and written schemes of examination
Assurance that all rotating equipment policies and procedures comply with company standards and industry, legislative practices
Identifying equipment reliability improvements
Promote and develop a safety and environmental awareness culture
Provide maintenance reviews to AFA’s
Technical lead in managing all allocated TLM Diesel Engine maintenance contracts (in conjunction with Cost/Commercial analyst and sites). Optimise TLM cost and service
Review reports covering equipment repairs and maintenance to determine problem areas. Advises Operations Managers of equipment requiring excessive repairs and recommends replacement where necessary. Technical lead in managing all allocated TLM Diesel Engine maintenance contracts (in conjunction with Cost/Commercial analyst and sites). Optimise TLM cost and service
Assessing all annual Diesel Engine package annual audits and ensuring compliance with the Diesel Engine Maintenance philosophy
The continuous assessment of removed Diesel Engine material to allow continuous improvement of the Diesel Engine maintenance strategies
Monitor site compliance with the TLM Diesel Engine maintenance strategies and recommend corrective actions where appropriate
Ensure that major maintenance changes are engineered and planned safety in accordance with good operational/production practices
Work with Engineering and Operations departments on major plant workscopes and provide maintenance input during design and commissioning stages to ensure :
(1) Appropriate planned maintenance routines are prepared, categorised and inputted into Tmax on completion of commissioning.
(2) shutdown requirements are minimised or avoided
(3) training requirements for maintenance technicians are addressed
Conduct periodic offshore “cold eye” observations (e.g. during otherwise planned site visits) and produce timely reports
Conduct regular performance management dialogues with direct reports (as appropriate)
Keep and update all necessary equipment histories and set standards/organize data
Define, maintain and audit maintenance guidelines, procedures and specifications
Pursue Opex reduction initiatives
Tracking and Assessing Diesel Engine performance and reporting summary information to the asset operations teams on a monthly basis
Providing Technical assistance to asset operations teams with troubleshooting operational problems with Diesel Engine equipment
Participation in Emergency Response team as required
