Our client, who is a top level Drilling Contractor, is looking for an experienced Structural Designer. Our client currently has a number of exciting projects running in the North Sea and are expanding their Design team to accomadate. The ideal candidate will have previos brownfield and drilling experience and will either be an experienced Structural Designer within the Oil and Gas sector. Job Description

We are currently looking for a Lead Piping Designer for our client, who is a global Drilling Contractor. Our client operates across 5 countries and employees more than 500 staff. The main responsibilities of this role are: Advise Design Engineers of changes in resources required Execute design and draughting activities. Supervision of assigned discipline CAD and design personnel. Give technical direction and guidance to CAD and design personnel. Prepare and check Piping drawings and BOM's from agreed scopes with input from engineers. Designs new products and makes improvements to existing products using computer aided design (CAD) and inventor. May evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability and ensure project completion. Works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner.

Job Description

Experience in 2D & 3D Design Packages, Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD preferred. HNC or equivalent in mechanical engineering. 4 years experience in the Oil & Gas industry, subsea experience preferable. Experience with geometric tolerancing, cladding & welding symbols to BSEN22553. Familiar with current Oil & Gas practices and procedures. Attention to detail. Ability to work as a team player and/or with minimal guidance. Fast learner Understanding of mechanical principles (force, torque, deflection, stress, yield, etc.). Creation of complex 3D Models and Drawings from raw material through to top level assemblies, including detail drawings for manufacture, weldments, assemblies, layouts, interface drawings & GAs. Work closely with engineer/project manager to deliver a high quality product. Liaise with 3rd parties and customers to get specific order requirements. Ability to create complex multi-level bills of materials, including material selection. Assist engineering in the development of products by producing concept designs and providing input to design reviews. Maintain drawings, BOMs and other engineering paperwork in an orderly manor per drawing office practice. Provide input to planning meetings to accurately provide expected durations of assigned tasks.
