Ref No. JW1511 Instrument Technician - Australia - $Competitive Applicant Requirements: Instrument Technician positions are filled by experienced staff who have completed at least 3 years of seismic field work in that position. Primary Trainee / Junior qualification standards with seismic experience of at least 1 year. Applicants should have the potential to become Chiefs within 2 years where they will manage the key money earning activities of the product line. Work is often outside in tough physical conditions, involving significant driving off road and supervision and coaching of others. Candidates should have experience in varied conditions and have demonstrated technical and managerial prowess in this position. Team working is central to progression on seismic crews where people live and work in close proximity. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and possess sufficient affability / extrovert natures to become active crew members. Job Specifications: Supervising trainees, junior Instruments Technicians and junior staff. *Ensure that regular operations meetings take place in the section and that junior staff are fully involved. *Oversee well-being of all maintenance staff. Managing line logistics along with Senior Technical staff *Co-ordinating with other sections. *Planning ahead to maximise recording time. *Planning ahead daily equipment rotation Being fully competent in all aspects of more junior jobs such as Junior Technicians (including their training modules). Working primarily on the recorder and recording line equipment from camp or in the field, operating, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment: *Recorder - The Instruments Technician along with all technical staff will assist the Chief observer in all matters related to technical issues *Line Equipment - ensure proper maintenance, testing, and repair in accordance with standard procedures and manufacturers' specifications *Source -the Instruments Technician will assist the source technicians in all technical matters related to the source units; the Instruments Technician will ensure that all source equipment is in good condition and receiving proper maintenance *Radios- the Instruments Technician will ensure that all the crew radios are well maintained and that junior staff are well trained in doing a proper installation and checkout; the Instruments Technician will ensure that only qualified personnel are authorized to do repair, maintenance and programming of radios *Electrical: In the event that there is no assigned camp electrician or qualified personnel the Instruments Technician needs to ensure that the electrical systems on the crew meet the company electrical standards. *Fully competent in use and operation of all test equipment. *Involved in battery monitoring and replacement planning to maximise uptime. *Regularly operating the maintenance equipment. *Ensure that company maintenance standards are adhered to and that RITE maintenance records are kept up to date. *Assist senior technical staff in generating and consolidating reports from different departments for weekly and monthly RITE reports *Review monthly equipment test results along with Chief Observer *Review spares inventories on a monthly basis with Junior, Senior staff and Chief Observers; ensure required spares are on requisition *Along with Senior and Junior technical staff, hold periodic departmental self audits in accordance to the QTAP audit forms and ensure that all technical departments are within 100% compliance Salary/benefits and package If you believe that you have the necessary qualifications for this position and wish to take advantage of this opportunity, please apply by using the relevant links on this page.
