The Manager Well Delivery and Engineering reports into the General Manager – Operations Services. The role of the Well Delivery and Engineering Department is to do detailed design of wells and to execute drilling campaigns for the assets worldwide.
The Manager Well Delivery and Engineering is responsible for managing the Well Delivery department in achieving worldwide well campaign goals. This requires input from all departments but extensively from PSM, SHE, Cost Control, Subsurface and Exploration. It is the responsibility of the Well Delivery Manager to ensure that the right balance is maintained between staff and long term consultants within the core team as well as when projects should be moved within their sphere of responsibility, taking into account changes in the business cycle through time.
Edu/Exp/Skills:
• Bachelor degree in engineering preferably in either petroleum or mechanical engineering
• Fluency in written and spoken use of the English language is required. Knowledge of other languages would be an advantage
• Excellent written, spoken communication and presentation skills are required
• Ability to work in a geographically dispersed virtual team is required. This will include the recognition of the need for regular inter-continental travel
• Ability to proactively react to continually changing levels of business work load
• Understanding of and willingness to work in a matrix organisation is required
• Min 20 years of international well delivery experience covering a broad range of;
*job functions in both well engineering and operations including Drilling Engineering, Completion Engineering, Drilling Supervision, Drilling Superintendent, Drilling Management etc.
*operating environments including remote onshore, offshore jackup and semi-submersible etc.
• 3 – 5 years experience working with a major oil company (such as Shell, BP, Exxon) preferably in the early part of their career and in the technically advanced operating area (such as the North Sea) where exposure to a competent management system of performing an well delivery role was experienced
• Min 3 years of experience managing a Well Delivery department consisting of a mix of staff and consultants
• Preference for someone with experience of management of worldwide operations of a Well Delivery function for a medium sized Oil Company
• Proven track record of consistently delivering well campaigns within budget, schedule, SHE and quality targets
• Excellent inter-personal and relationship skills with extensive developed networks within the international Well Delivery fraternity
Duties:
• Ensure that all work complies with international industry standards and best practice (SH&E, technical and operational),
• Deliver well campaigns within budget, schedule, SHE and quality targets
• Represent SPI interests in external dealing with partners, contractors, consultants and industry forums
