Job Description

The Barge Master is the over all incharge and responsible for the following :

• Ensure that the vessel is anchored safely at all times throughout the construction operations.

• Ensure that all the anchor handling activities are performed by qualified personnel and conducted according to approved procedures and good working practices.

• Delegate and assign the work to the barge crew.

• The Barge Master shall have ultimate responsibility for the anchor handling operations, ensuring that activities are conducted in a safe manner and without damage to any facilities or equipment.

• The Barge Master shall coordinate the anchor handling operations and instruct of the Anchor foreman, communicating and controlling the activities with the AHT Master Anchor Hoist Operators.

• The Barge Master will be competent in all aspects of barge moving, including anchor handling operation, towing, seaworthiness, navigation, appraisal of weather and passage plan,etc….

• He will be responsible for all aspects from the current position until the next location.

• Will, in conjunction with the clinet, responsible for ensuring that all marine operations are conducted in such a manner as to safeguard the integrity of all equipment, barge and vessels.

• Will be responsible for ensuring that all key personnel involved in the barge move receive a detailed briefing prior to the commencement of barge-move operations.

• Will plan regarding the tow route and passage plan, including monitoring the latest information on barge move positions or obstructions that may be in the vicinity along the tow route or the new location.

• Will approve the procedures, risks assessment, catenary calculation,….

• Shall ensure the barge is ready for tow by inspecting the following, including but not limited to: Sea fastenings - Winch and anchor systems -Tow wires and towing arrangements

• Will familiarize himself with details of the arrival location, water depth,

• Shall confirm that the correct position reference has been input into the survey display and that all personnel involved in the barge move (positioning operation) fully understand the target reference position.

• Will familiarize himself with the technical capability of the winch’s system and its components.

• Will be responsible for the correct deployment of anchors and anchor lines associated with the barge move operations and should ensure that the equipment provided is fit-for-purpose.

• Liaise with the client and office on all matters concerning the barge move.

The Vessel Assurance Co-ordinator works within the QHSE Department, which consists of a complementary team of quality, safety/marine-safety and environmental personnel. The Vessel Assurance Co-ordinator supports the onshore and offshore line organisation with the implementation and improvement of a multi-faceted management system.

    - Support the promotion of ISM code awareness and the implementation of the management system company-wide;

    - Work within a multi-disciplined department to ensure focussed support towards management, vessels and projects;

    - Perform internal audits on our client vessels;

    - Perform marine and/or safety inspections on subcontracted vessels;

    - Provide project support regarding the co-ordination of auditing of chartered units/vessels (excluding specialist systems, i.e. ping and survey spreads);

    - In liaison with Project Managers and/or Vessel Managers, escort auditors, client representatives and marine warranty surveyors to and on the vessels as required;

    - Interpret changes in maritime legislation, standards, etc. into implications for our clients operations;

    - Participate in incident investigation teams.

    Skills & Experience

    - BSc degree in Nautical Science (Maroff/MO);

    - Considerable experience as Captain, Chief Mate or First Mate;

    - Knowledge of all IMO conventions;

    - Knowledge of occupational health and safety acts/regulations;

    - Familiarity with the IMCA Common Marine Inspection Document (CMID) and the Offshore Vessel Inspection Document (OVID);

    - Experience with QHSE management systems;

    - Experience with auditing against ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and/or the ISM Code requirements;

    - Experience with root cause analysis;

    - Good command of the English language, both written and spoken;

    - Medically fit to travel and work offshore.

    The Vessel Manager works within the Operations Department and is the intermediary between the vessel and the departments within the office. The Vessel Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations, all vessel schedule and budget related matters and decides which issues are to be dealt with by Vessel Asset Team (VAT) members.

    The Vessel Manager reports directly to the Department Head Operations. While working on specific projects, he/she will also report to the respective Project Manager in accordance with the matrix organization.

    - Provide tender input as requested by the Proposals Management Department;

    - Familiarize with project requirements and provide input in the project preparations;

    - Liaise with the vessel on the project preparations and ensure all project procedures and drawings are discussed with the Vessel Management Team (VMT - Master, Chief Engineer, Superintendent) before the start of a project;

    - Perform interdisciplinary checks on vessel modifications, project specific and general installation procedures;

    - Ensure adequate follow-up of problems encountered by the vessels offshore;

    - Manage port calls and mobilizations of the vessels in preparation of the offshore execution and manage all onshore support to the vessels during execution of the offshore work;

    - Facilitate the constant improvement process on safety behavior, monitor the safety performance of the vessel and identify areas for improvement;

    - Liaise with other departments on impact of changes in seasonal schedule and/or changes in vessel movements;

    - Prepare the yearly vessel budget and manage vessel expenditure;

    - Direct the vessels and asset team members as required.

    Skills & Experience

    - BSc/MSc Nautical degree, Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics Engineering or equivalent;

    - Previous relevant experience, preferably in an offshore or marine environment;

    - Results driven, decisive, efficiency driven and hands-on mentality;

    - Management and leadership skills;

    - Good command of the English language, both written and spoken;

    - Willingness to travel.
