    - Support the development of technical strategies and plans, taking into account company objectives, broad stakeholder requirements, and other related considerations in order to support the delivery and regulatory substantiation of control and protection aspects of the new build developments.

    - Identify and develop approaches to manage risks and issues related to the provision and regulatory acceptance of control and protection systems on the Wylfa and Oldbury projects.

    - Provide definitive / expert guidance on control and instrumentation related issues, in conjunction with relevant national and international codes and standards.

    - Perform technical management and oversight of work carried out by others, including external suppliers.

    - Provide expert advice and guidance on requirements, standards, design, substantiation and safety case related issues.

    - Lead and manage sub-teams performing control and instrumentation related and potentially multidiscipline activities.

    - Support interactions with external stakeholders, such as regulators.

    - Define SQEP requirements for the Lead area of Control and Protection and identify associated training, development and recruitment requirements in conjunction with the Head of C&P.

    - Act as a dedicated Lead Control and Instrumentation Engineer within company's Engineering Directorate, reporting to the Head of Control and Instrumentation.

    - Take ownership of technical aspects/issues within the associated Lead area, taking a holistic approach to their resolution and bring them to a successful conclusion.

    - Work with other disciplines and groups within the Engineering Directorate and the organisation to ensure that interfaces are adequately managed and coordinated and that other stakeholders interests are adequately addressed.

    - Lead aspects of the development, maintenance and implementation of the Basis of Design for the Wylfa and Oldbury developments.

    - Deliver technical management and oversight of work being performed by suppliers/framework partners to ensure that requirements are clearly defined and understood, appropriate processes are being followed, work is being delivered to acceptable standards and adequately reviewed prior to acceptance by the company.

    - Provide expert guidance and support to the licensing and permitting process for Wylfa and Oldbury.

    Skills & Experience

    This is a great opportunity for an experienced C&I Engineer who has a track record of success in a similar role within the nuclear industry. They will have experience in addressing whole plant C&I architecture design and ideally experience of working with regulators. The successful candidate will have experience of managing a team and have knowledge of UK and international codes and standards.

    - A track record of success and achievement demonstrated within relevant, equivalent, roles. Evidence of delivering work to deadlines and quality standards.

    - Experience in addressing whole plant C&I architecture design issues relating to compliance with user requirements, specifications, design principles and design standards, performance, reliability and regulatory acceptability.

    - A relevant engineering qualification to degree level and chartered engineer status (membership of an associated professional institution is preferable).

    - Significant experience in related works (i.e. civil nuclear engineering or an equivalent, highly regulated industry).

    - Significant experience across a broad range of civil nuclear power plant engineering issues.

    - Experience in the design, development, substantiation or management of nuclear/conventional power control/safety systems.

    - Knowledge of national and international nuclear/conventional power plant control and instrumentation system codes and standards.

    - Knowledge of the additional requirements and regulatory aspects/considerations associated with civil nuclear work and sites.

    - Experience in delivering complex engineering and design projects to deadlines taking into account overarching company objectives and business plan requirements.

    - Good team working skills, able to work with a wide range of other engineering and business disciplines inside and outside company.

    - Able to provide guidance and support to other members of the team.

    - Strong communication skills and the ability to recognise and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders

    - Drive, commitment and enthusiasm, particularly for the development of nuclear power in the UK.
