    Job Description

    In order to undertake this role you will be a degree qualified Civil/Structural Engineer. Chartered status would be an advantage but not essential. You will have experience in a similar role within a consultancy or contracting organisation and previous wind farm experience would be considered highly desirable.

    You should be able to demonstrate key skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

    - Knowledge and use of 3D design software including the AutoCAD Civil Design Suite;

    - The design and construction of reinforced concrete structures;

    - Road pavement and track design and construction;

    - Drainage design and the design and construction of shallow infiltration systems;

    - The specification and management of geotechnical investigations;

    - The preparation of construction contracts, specifications, bills of quantities etc.

    In addition to the above, you should be proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of large civil engineering structures.

    The key tasks of this role include:

    - The design and documentation of civil and structural components of projects including but not limited to the areas described above;

    - Liaison and consultation with statutory authorities and others to implement the construction of projects;

    - Assist in the preparation of construction and environmental method statements and other documentation as required in the project planning conditions;

    - Assist in the placing of contracts with consultants for technical aspects of projects;

    - Undertake the role of Designer under the CDM Regulations (2015);

    - Carry out client liaison and coordination including reporting of progress;

    - Project management of the tasks and deliverables required to be delivered as part of the design packages during the pre-construction and construction stages;

    - Conduct technical inspections of structures, formations and other civil/structural elements of a project as required;

    - Undertake the design and supervision of civil/structural remedial works;

    - Assist project managers and others in evaluating other designs and construction methods.

    You must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office and have the ability to write clear and concise engineering reports. You will also possess excellent communication and presentation skills. You will be expected to be flexible to meet the demands of the business with a willingness to travel. A full driver's licence is essential.
