Two North Sea Platforms Evacuated After Power Loss
North Sea oil rig workers were evacuated after two North Sea platforms suffered power outages.
A total of 75 non-essential personnel from the Brae Alpha and Brae Bravo platforms were transferred onshore.
Marathon Oil said the "power outage" happened in the Brae field, 155 miles north east of Aberdeen, on Monday.
A spokeswoman for the firm said today: “Marathon Oil can confirm that it undertook a precautionary transfer of non-essential personnel onshore following a power outage yesterday morning in the Brae field.
“All 245 workers are safe and every effort is being made to resolve the situation as soon as possible.”
Marathon said 170 personnel remained.
