An offshore worker was evacuated last night (December 1, 2014) from a North Sea platform after suffering an injury.

The injured worker was airlifted from the TAQA-owned Eider platform and flown to the hospital by the Shetland coastguard.

Eider platform is serving as a manned production platform for the Eider field located in Block 211/16a in the East Shetland Basin of the northern North Sea.

A company spokesperson said: “I can confirm that a Stork employee working on our Eider platform fell off a ladder, 2-3 rungs up, and was taken to hospital as a precaution.”

No further details were released regarding the extent and type of injury to the worker, but the spokesperson did note that, “the employee is fine, but we are waiting for an update from Stork”.

This follows a similar incident recently reported on another injured worker being evacuated from the TAQA’s North Cormorant platform, also in the North Sea.
