A fire broke out onboard Petrojarl Knarr Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) unit, offshore Norway early this morning.

According to BG Group’s statement sent to Offshore Energy Today, the situation on board the Petrojarl Knarr is under control following a small fire this morning.

The incident was reported at approximately 01.45 hours this morning involving the Petrojarl Knarr FPSO. The vessel reported a small fire in a technical room. The fire has been extinguished and the situation has been normalised, BG Group reported.

The BG Group incident response team, Teekay Petrojarl incident response team and relevant external authorities were mobilised according to plan.

All personnel are accounted for and there are no reported injuries, the company said in the press statement.

Furthermore, the production has been shut down and there has been no reported impact to the environment, BG reported.

Offshore Energy Today has also reached out to the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway seeking more info, but the press officer did not reply to an e-mail or a phone call.

The FPSO Petrojarl Knarr started production less than a week ago. The vessel has a production capacity of 63 000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and a storage capacity of 800 000 barrels.
