Coastguard Medivac Update
The Coastguard has confirmed that a helicopter has been dispatched to the Lomond platform this morning and is currently on route to Aberdeen airport.
Oil and Gas People understands that the casualty who has a suspected broken arm will then be transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance. The incident happened last night but following assessment by an offshore Medic the decision was taken to wait until daylight to airlift the casualty.
It is believed the casualties arm was trapped in a door and that he may have sustained some crush injuries.
The Lomond Platform is operated by BG and situated 145 miles East of Aberdeen. The platfrom was the scene of a high profile incident in February when a worker was exposed to radiation while suspected to be asleep in a container.
