Job Description

As Assistant/Trainee Cost Engineer your main responsibilities will include

Understand the corporate and contract specific cost procedures and carry out all work in accordance with these.
Study and understand all relevant project documents relating to the cost management of allocated project(s).
Assisting in the review of cost commitment and expenditure information (for all cost elements), for input to the computerised cost control and reporting system on a weekly basis and ensuring that all information received is accurate and correctly input.
Assisting in the production of regular cost reports.
Maintaining comprehensive accessible registers of financial approvals, variations and change orders.
Review project manhours and the allocation of manhours in conjunction with planning on a weekly basis.
Maintain rates within Computerised Cost System.
Maintain a good working knowledge of relevant corporate cost software.
Participate in schedule risk analysis as required
Ensure that the Corporate and Project Specific Change Control procedures are being adhered to.
Assist Cost Department on reporting how the change control effort is impacting on the project
And any other duties appropriate to this position

Education & Qualifications:
A-Levels or equivalent experience

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:
Good general understanding of Cost Management, Estimating and Change Control

Experience:
High degree of computer literacy

    - Database and ensure consistency between databases.

    - Attend / be represented at IRN's for major equipment to ensure correct preservation is applied and reservation regime for on-going project requirements is fully understood.

    - Manage and audit Fabricator Resources to ensure de-preservation / re-preservation is properly implemented and recorded:

    - On receipt at fabrication yard / construction site.

    - On installation.

    - During Commissioning.

    - Manage and control use, storage and safe disposal of preservation chemicals and materials.

    - Identify and manage resources for preservation activities during long term storage / transportation.

    Skills and Experience

    - Minimum: Recognised HNC/HND with appropriate experience.

    - Coordinate Vendor call offs in accordance with construction and commissioning schedule ensuring Vendors are mobilised when required and are aware and understand the safe working practices of the site and receive all the necessary site specific safety training.

    - Ensure that all work carried out on Live Systems is completed under a Permit to Work.

    - Ensure that the all ICSS static and dynamic Commissioning activities are completed in a safe manner.

    - Ensuring that all ICSS commissioning procedures and paperwork is completed to enable a smooth

    - hand over of systems to Operations.

    - Objective:
