Job Description

Our client is an international energy services company operating in engineering & production facilities, well support and gas turbine services. Employing over 28,000 personnel worldwide they operate in 50 countries

As Assistant/Trainee Cost Engineer your main responsibilities will include

Understand the corporate and contract specific cost procedures and carry out all work in accordance with these.
Study and understand all relevant project documents relating to the cost management of allocated project(s).
Assisting in the review of cost commitment and expenditure information (for all cost elements), for input to the computerised cost control and reporting system on a weekly basis and ensuring that all information received is accurate and correctly input.
Assisting in the production of regular cost reports.
Maintaining comprehensive accessible registers of financial approvals, variations and change orders.
Review project manhours and the allocation of manhours in conjunction with planning on a weekly basis.
Maintain rates within Computerised Cost System.
Maintain a good working knowledge of relevant corporate cost software.
Participate in schedule risk analysis as required
Ensure that the Corporate and Project Specific Change Control procedures are being adhered to.
Assist Cost Department on reporting how the change control effort is impacting on the project
And any other duties appropriate to this position

Education & Qualifications:
A-Levels or equivalent experience

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:
Good general understanding of Cost Management, Estimating and Change Control

Experience:
High degree of computer literacy

    Manage the FM contractor to ensure effective implementation of all FM work-scopes (all coatings,insulation, flange protection etc.)
    Define and implement FM programmes.
    Work with Integrity and Inspection positions to ensure appropriate inspection programmes are implemented as part of the FM work-scopes.
    Co-ordinate offshore FM contractor activities.
    Work with Integrity and Inspection positions to develop inspection strategies and programmes to address threats to the assets 'fabric' integrity e.g. handrails and gratings; uni-strut; brackets etc. in line with industry best practice - HSE hydrocarbon leak reduction toolkit, Company AI Recommended Practice (RP) documents (self-assessment checklists); Energy Institute Corrosion Management RP etc.
    Development and implementation of 'tertiary' equipment maintenance/replacement programmes.
    Work with the Integrity Engineer to develop an integrated insulation removal and inspection programme (in support ofthe CUI strategy).
    Preparing and controlling the budgets for the following programmes; Fabric maintenance budget (coatings and insulation); Scaffolding (access requirements); FM materials -Enviropeel, Stopaq etc.
    Contribute to the annual preparation of the Asset Integrity Team budget.
    Control, forecast and work within the budget
    Preparation of monthly and annual FM reports including KPI's on plan attainment, fabric maintenance backlog (by category), productivity etc.

    Experience
    Previous experience of operations support within offshore oil and gas industry.

    NACE Protective Coating Specialist
    SSPC Protective Coating Specialist
    Commercial and contractual awareness.

    Qualifications
    Current offshore survival and medical.
    Institute of Corrosion Fireproofing and Insulation Certificate
    Educated to degree level or satisfactory equivalent e.g.HND/HNC plus vocational certificates and NDT awareness/experience.
    NACE Coating Inspector Level 3 Certificate
    A member of a professional body e.g. NACE, ICorr etc.
