    - Contribute to the production of pre commencement safety reports for a major project through:

    - Interactions with the regulators at Regulatory Interface Meetings

    - Ensuring the relevant quality requirements for assurance assessments are met and that corporate arrangements are

    - followed.

    - Carrying out and documenting hazard identification and undertaking a full assessment of the identified hazards using

    - deterministic and probabilistic techniques for the pre commencement safety cases.

    - Using the output from the assessments to derive safety requirements and to work effectively with the design engineers

    - to ensure a safety led deign solution from which the associated risk can be demonstrated to be reduce to acceptable

    - levels which are ALARP

    - Use features of the final design and the output from the safety assessments and design substantiation to derive the safe

    - operating envelope and demonstrate that the associated risk has been reduced to levels which are acceptable and

    - Providing visible commitment to safety improvement programmes

    - Understand the importance of meeting customer, statutory, regulatory and internal requirements

    Skills & Experience

    - Degree (or equivalent) in a science or engineering based subject or equivalent work based experience

    - Good working knowledge of the production, review and approval process for safety documentation within a nuclear

    - facility

    - Health and Safety Management

    - Company Safety Procedures & Quality Procedures.

    - Knowledge of company facilities, processes and operations

    - A working knowledge of current health and safety legislation and the ONR licensing regime

    - Relevant experience in the field of safety assessment for radiological, chemical and explosive hazards.

    - Experience in the nuclear industry

    - Excellent inter-personal/negotiation/communication skills.

    - Good report writing skills.

    - Good presentational skills

    - Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.

    This is a contract position.

    - Do you have experience in strategic Performance management with Oil and Gas External Affairs ?

    - Do you have the ability to manage, collate and report monthly SSEA statistics, performance metrics and KPI's, as well as be responsible for the analysis, interpretation and reporting of trends?

    - Can you take responsibility the design and development of an effective balanced score card and supporting dashboard and own the responsibility for reporting of SSEA performance statistics?

    - Responsible to design a strategic approach to SSEA Performance Management across the Group.

    - Responsible for managing KPIs for the purpose of external and internal transparency and target setting.

    - Responsible for management, collation and reporting of monthly SSEA statistics, performance metrics and KPI's.

    - Responsible for developing and maintaining an effective set of data systems that monitor and support SSEA performance.

    - Accountable for the analysis, interpretation and reporting of trends for SSEA Leadership team, Regional teams, Board and Excom to drive improved business performance.

    - Experience of developing and implementing robust data collection systems and processes

Your key objective will be to own, develop, implement and review the Site's arrangements for the management of conventional safety and to ensure compliance with statutory and Company requirements, and enhancement of conventional safety performance.

    Objective
    * Develop and maintain arrangements for compliance with industrial safety, statutory and Company requirements. * Produce and maintain the site's risk assessment arrangements as required. * Maintain required external certification, e.g. OHSAS18001, as required. * Provide specialist industrial safety support. * Monitor adequacy of site arrangements through audit, inspection and the investigation of events. * Drive the implementation of conventional safety arrangements across the Site. * Develop and manage the Site Improvement Plan for industrial safety as required. * Develop, implement and maintain the Site Fire Risk Assessments as appropriate. * Carry out project management activities as required. * Ensure personal and professional development and training of conventional safety staff to deliver an effective and suitably qualified and experienced Function. * Monitor performance and take action to maintain conventional safety standards and improve performance. * Identify good practice in performance at sites and externally, and promote and deploy across the Functions/Sites. * Provide expert-level advice, support and guidance on conventional safety issues throughout the Site. * Act for the Site Head of Safety as directed. * The post holder may be required to be a member of, and participate in, the Site Emergency Scheme subject to any fitness standards required. * Comply with the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments. Support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety Environment and Quality on Site. * As a customer-focused inpidual, the post holder will be expected to support delivery within his or her range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence. * Undertake baseline roles as required. * Provide expert-level advice for the effective development of conventional safety training programmes. * Assist with managing the relevant aspects of the Detail Volume, SPI/CPI, and commercial and financial aspects as required for delivery of the lifetime plan.

    Deliverables (for contract)
    * Effective team leadership through; People Management, Performance Management, Control and Supervision, Communications, Resource Management and Management of Systems and Processes. * Assigning tasks to the team members ensuring they are Suitably Qualified and Experienced (SQEP) to carry out such tasks. * Responsible for team/ inpidual development plans and ensuring training is carried out. * Ensuring all team members receive the support necessary to both understand and contribute to achieving the objectives of the Department Lifetime Plan. * Regularly undertake team briefings to ensure staff are well informed regarding both technical and administrative matters concerning the execution of their responsibilities. * The design, delivery and evaluation of training, acting as coach and mentor.

    Essential/Desirable Skills
    EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING * Educated to NQF level 6 / NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent in a post related subject). * Member of a relevant professional institute * Diploma or equivalent in relevant specialism. E.g. NEBOSH EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE * Relevant experience in related roles * Experience at a nuclear site or another high hazard industry * Detailed knowledge of Site License conditions and UK safety legislation * Detailed knowledge of International / ISO Standards
