Job DescriptionA global oil and gas company is seeking to appoint a Lead Investigator to sit within its corporate EHS function. This highly visible role will involve significant travel (up to 50%) globally, visiting operational sites where major incidents have occurred. This will involve thoroughly and knowledgeably investigating serious incidents, gathering all relevant information and delivering expert incident investigation reports. It is expected that candidates will be degree educated in an engineering or technical discipline and be a certified safety practitioner. Although oil and gas experience is desirable, it is possible that candidates from similar high risk industries will be considered. Only candidates with substantial experience within incident investigation with a demonstrable track record of delivery will be considered.

Responsibilities: • Employee safety inductions. • Assistance and guidance of employees in their general day to day duties where safety impacts on those tasks and working with them to instil safe working practices. • Crew safety inductions. • Owner/client Contractors site inductions, collation and checking of relevant paperwork prior to site arrival. • Assist owner/client H&S representatives with any requirements they may have on site and discuss the requirements we have. • Yard Contractor’s site inductions, collation and checking of relevant paperwork prior to site arrival. • Assist with permits being issued to employees and contractors. • Daily checks that PTW have been written, implemented and signed off correctly. • Checking site RAs and Method Statements are properly written and implemented. • At least two daily on site safety inspections of vessels while in DMS Gavel dry dock. • Regular off site safety inspections of work being carried out by DMS Garvel, both site work and afloat repairs. • Making job specific Risk Assessments and Method statements and ensure all employees are aware of how to use them. • Investigation and recording of any incidents and accidents. • Organise pre inspection of insurance checked plant and equipment such as cranes, forklifts, compressors, overhead cranes etc. and then organise for repair as required prior to formal insurance inspection. • Organise insurance inspections on plant and equipment after pre inspection check has been carried out • Periodic safety checks on equipment and plant such as cargo baskets, gangways, bottle racks, man riding baskets, dock gate wires etc. or organise such checks where specialist external examinations are required. • Upkeep of all lifting equipment and equipment register, organise mandatory checks as required. • Implementation and maintenance of safety training matrix ensuring that courses are organised in good time etc. • Assist with internal and external audits. • Provide feedback to employees and managers from site incident cards. • Implement monthly notice board safety initiatives. • Look to offer advice and plans to further improve the site or ways of working. • Look to discuss any new safety initiatives with operations manager , and assist him in implementing these new measures. • Discuss any new safety measures with HSE Manager where they could be beneficial to the rest of the group. • Maintenance of all relevant systems. • Assist with internal and external audits. • Assist with other duties and administration as required and instructed by your line manager. • Basic upkeep of ISO 9001 systems.
Qualifications: • NEBOSH (National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety). Preferred but training may be given to the right candidate. Reporting to: • In the first instance to site operations manager • Report/discuss with HSE Manager any major H&S problems or any new systems you feel may benefit the company.

My client are an international electrical infrastructure EPC company and they are looking for a site based HSE Advisor for a substation extension project in West Sussex.
The HSE Advisor is responsible for on the ground implementation of the project health and safety plan onsite and reports back to the project health and safety management team back in head office.
- Site based HSE advisor experience on utilities construction projects.
- Candidates must have the equivalent of a NEBOSH Diploma.
- National Grid BESC and Persons are also essential.
- Candidates will need a FIT for work certificate and a Drugs and Alcohol Certificate.
