Job Description

Inspection Engineer

Leap 29 are currently working with a global engineering company. At the moment the client is looking for an inspection engineer to carry out inspections on drilling equipment.

Start date: 1 month
Duration: Long term contract (min. 2-3 years)
Rate: To be discussed
Location: Worldwide

Your responsibilities

*As the inspection engineer you will carry out the inspection of drilling equipment such as pumps, engines and generators
*You will be working on different projects worldwide for approximately 200 days a year

I would like to stress that my client needs someone who is flexible to be able to travel as they will need you to work on different projects worldwide. There is no set rotation as it depends on the project you will be working on. Also my client requires the suitable candidate to be committed to the position on a long term contact basis (minimum 2-3 years).     For the engineering team of NAM Groningen project we are looking for a motivated and competent Engineer (M/F) to strengthen their team.

    - Giving Technical Support at a persity of engineering activities realized by 3rd party consultants authorized by NAM

    - Giving technical engineering support

    - Technical review of engineering documents concerning reinforcement measurements before implementation

You would be working from the design phase right through the construction phase of the project. So if you are a passionate person then this could be the perfect opportunity for you. The role: You will be bringing your scientific background into practice. This is due to the installation of subsea pipeline infrastructures in waters to a depth below 3km. You will therefore be dealing with more corrosive fluids, and the type of materials used have become even more important. You will bring with you a hands on approach and translate complex matters into practical solutions. You will be advising project teams on metallurgical topics from the tender phase through to the fabrication phase, you will also analyze the fracture mechanics of welds by means of Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA). In addition you will advise the clients pipeline production department, on the acceptable flaw sizes allowed in the welding process of pipe joints. You will be expected to perform test programs and supervise the subcontractors involved in those tests, and you will seize potential opportunities for process improvement and know how to convert those into standards and procedures. The Requirements: *You have 5 years minimum experience. *Have a master's degree or PHD in Material Science & Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanicals of Materials, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. *Have experience within a materials related R&D environment or production environment or at the beginning of your career. *You have knowledge of fracture mechanics, steels, forgings, corrosion, welding etc. *You have a drive to make things happen while being constantly aware of quality, structural, integrity and safety. *Good communications skills in English written and verbal. *You have ambition to temporarily work offshore on board of the clients vessels, overseas or in their foreign offices.
