Our client is an International Operator working extensively within the Norwegian market. They are requiring Commissioning Area Operators to take up work on their project offshore of Norway. This is a long term position starting in October and will run till 2014 .

The role will require the candidate to work alongside the Commissioning superintendent and ensure that commissioning activities are completed safely in accordance with the project scope.

To be suitable for this position you will need to have the following background.

* 5-10 years relevant experience
* Experience with multi disciplines of the commissioning
* Norwegian (NORSOK) experience
* Regular meetings with commissioning
* Offshore experience

In return you will be given a competitive market rate for your services.

    The purpose of this position is to provide cost and scheduling support to the ISBL (Inside Battery Limits) Scope for a Downstream Project During Define and Detail Engineering Phase.

    - The principal accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

    - Develop and implement cost structure, then monitor, report and forecast project cost using SAP and other cost management tools.

    - Integrate data from Company and Engineering contractors to prepare monthly project reports.

    - Work closely with the projects teams to monitor Management of Change process, identifying cost and schedule impacts of proposed changes and incorporating those impacts into the project forecast and budget.

    - Manage the interface between Project Services and Finance plus Contract and Procurement.

    - Support the development of the Work Breakdown Structure to support project delivery.

    - Generate accurate monthly cost reports, highlighting variances from the plan on commitment, value of work done, management of changes and currency fluctuations against approved Authorities For Expenditure (AFEs).

    - Maintain and promote realism in the cost forecasts in the face of commercial pressure and optimism from project teams.

    - Maintain consistency in cost bases through rigorous adherence to the controls processes.

    - Raise awareness of the importance of developing the cost management structure in early project phases.

    - Support development and maintain consistent and realistic plans for the project.

    - Understand the list of plans required to execute the assigned project sub-elements and their interface to other sub-elements.

    - Develop the activities, logic, resources and progress for the assigned project sub-elements, leading to the creation of the baseline schedule and its subsequent maintenance.

    - Develop, implement and comply with the planning and progress monitoring procedures.

    - Conduct assure the schedule monthly progress update, forecast, critical path and trend analyses for assigned elements, including any impact from interface areas.

    - Review and verify contractors reported progress and ensure that this is reflected in the project schedule.

    - Contribute to the translation of the project's risk profile into the probabilistic risk model and understand the output, including the key risk drivers for the possible range of schedule completion dates.

    - Track the criticality of the main paths to completion and float consumption.

    - Implement and utilise the company standards tools and processes.

    - Provide input data for and participate in benchmarking activities.

    - Contribute to close-out data to enable knowledge retention (lessons learned, project data compilation) at completion of work.

    Skills and Experience

    - Engineering Degree and/or Certification as a Cost / Planning Engineer or equivalent experience.

    - Moderate industry experience in cost/planning engineering positions.

    - Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills in English.

    - Working experience with SAP is desired.

    - Working experience from the Energy industry (preferably downstream) within a Project Services organization is desired.

    - Must have a "Team attitude", be self-motivated and be willing to support other groups and projects when required.

    - German and/or French language is considered a plus but not a requirement.

    This is a contract position.
