    Job Description

    - Ensuring safe operation of all plant and processes - assigned to them including but not limited to - pre running checks, appropriate logs during operational periods, rounds to ensure continued safe operation within the limits of operation

    - Executing and interpreting Noise & Vibration Analysis for equipment health monitoring (EHM)

    - Testing and calibration of submarine self-noise critical systems and equipment, including fault diagnosis, recommendations for corrective solutions and balancing of rotating machinery

    - Compiling data trap results from accelerometers, electro-magnetic shakers, programmable circuit board modal response hammers, acoustic hydrophones, pressure transducers, airborne noise meters and multi- channel analysis systems and then utilize this data to complete test documentation for final close out at JTG

    - Conducting ' In Accordance With' (IAW) authorized test procedures; system inspections (ie: has equipment been installed correctly), integrity checks (ie: fluid systems pressure tight, electrical IR in specification), system husbandry and cleanliness verification (ie: fluid system flushing), equipment calibration (ie: all protection and warning devices operational and correctly set) and system set to work followed by integration with other supporting / dependent systems

    - Raising, processing and completing Change Notices and Order Sheets to support the above activities

    - Liaising with the OSMT, EDWP Materials Team, EDWP Mat Cert Team, VISSC Production Team and VISSC Systems Engineering Team to ensure consistent approach to testing and to advise the Head of Commissioning on any noted inconsistencies or anomalies

    - Carrying out the role of Test Director (ie: co-ordinate, supervise and conduct Commissioning Group testing) tasks as assigned

    - Performing key leadership role at Plan of Tomorrow (PLOT) and Plan of the Day (PLOD) meetings

    - Responsible for the Occupational Health and Safety (ie: WorkSafe BC, client Procedures, Seaspan Safe Work Procedures and VISSC CG Functional Procedures) of all direct reports or those temporarily assigned to be under supervision

    Skills & Experience

    - Minimum Master's degree in Engineering or similar discipline

    - Mandatory experience in the field of Marine Engineering in a naval environment

    Working as part of the Maintenance Team providing 'Hands-on' Electrical & Technical support to both Production and other internal functions throughout the Factory. The role will also provide applicants with the opportunity to be heavily involved within engineer projects upgrading machinery and facilities.
    Hours of work will be based around a 39 hour shift rota, Monday to Friday with a paid lunch break.
    Main Duties & Responsibilities include:

    Essential planned maintenance and necessary repairs to keep the factory in good working order. Provide electrical maintenance cover through effective and efficient response to plant breakdowns throughout the factory.
    Taking a leading role in on-going process improvement throughout the factory developing new ideas and better solutions.
    Provide good communication skills to colleagues & production personnel to develop an understanding of the machinery operation so faults can be diagnosed & rectified efficiently.
    Being actively involved in the TPM Improvement Process.
    Experience and Qualifications Required:

    Qualified to ONC/HNC or equivalent / Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship and Qualification.
    Experience of fault finding upon PLC's the ability to modify PLC programmes would be an advantage but not essential as training can be provided
    Experience of working within engineering or manufacturing environments would be desirable.
